Volunteers

U-Con is always looking for people willing to volunteer their time to help put on the convention. We need people to help make U-Con a great gaming convention. If you are interested in being an RPGA Judge, please see the RPGA Judge Information. If you are otherwise interested in volunteering, read below.

How Does Volunteering Work?

We require a minimum of four hours working on tasks we assign you for volunteering credit. Please preregister for a badge if you can. If this is not possible, please contact the volunteer coordinator to make other arrangements. Work with the volunteer coordinator to schedule your shifts. We typically work in 2-hour increments, so it is possible to split up your volunteering into two blocks or do it all at once. At the start of your shift, we'll provide you with a volunteer badge. When you have completed four hours of volunteering we will refund the cost of your badge. Possible tasks include:

What Do Volunteers Do?

Exhibitor Hall Guard:

Your job is to kindly make sure everyone who goes in to the Exhibitor Hall has a proper badge!

Ticket Pullers:

Your job is to work in ops, pulling tickets that attendees want to purchase.

Greeter:

Your job is to greet guests outside ops and manage the flow of traffic.

Floater:

Your job is to be the extra hand whereever a job needs doing.

What Do Volunteers Get?

Volunteer Badge

U-Con will give you a volunteer badge and refund the cost of your badge.

Tee Shirt

A volunteer may purchase one tee shirt at a discount

Bonus for Extra Effort

For each 2 hours extra you volunteer beyond the minimum, we'll give you a free, non-refundable generic ticket.

Our Gratitude

Volunteering takes a little time, but it's pretty easy. It's a great way to get to know your friendly neighborhood staff.

How do I sign up?

The first step is to contact the volunteer coordinator (please direct your question to volunteers) to join a moderated, low-traffic, spam-free email list.

If at the convention you are feeling spontaneous and would like to volunteer, please contact staff in ops.

Thank you for your help making U-Con great!
