But in each game, only four of the sixteen scoring tiles will be scored. Thanks to the scoring tiles, each game is different and leads to different tactics and strategies, but having enough money is useful no matter what else is going on. Managing that money can be tricky, though. Each turn, each player places two area tiles in front of them and sets the selling price for the tiles. 6840 Yedo, GM: Gary Loyola (Oakland County Gamers), 5 players, No XP/Average, Friday 3p-6p. Japan, 1605. Hidetada Tokugawa has succeeded his father as the new Shogun, ruling from the great city of Edo (a.k.a. Yedo), the city known in present times as Tokyo. This marks the beginning of the golden age of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the so-called Edo Period that will last until 1868. Naturally, the most powerful families in Edo immediately try to curry favor with the new Shogun, and this is the opportunity our clan has been looking for, our chance at power and glory. Our clan will prove ourselves to be indispensable to the new Shogun. We will work from the shadows to acquire information about our rival clans. We will kidnap those who might oppose our ascent and assassinate those who prove a threat. We will use cunning to prevent our adversaries from doing the same to us. We will find glory and honor in the eyes of this new Shogun - or failing that we will end his rule by any means necessary. In the strategy game Yedo, players assume the roles of Clan Elders in the city of Edo during the early years of the Tokugawa Shogunate. The object of the game is to amass Prestige Points, mainly by completing missions. To do so, players must gather the necessary assets and, most importantly, outfox their opponents and prevent them from completing their missions. General Audience (13+) Ballroom Table 415. $4.00

6856 T.I.M.E Stories: The Marcy Case, GM: Randolph Williams (Contessa), 4 players, No XP/Simple, Friday 3p-7p. Perhaps you've heard of it: a unique "decksploration" cooperative gaming system with limited-to-nonexistent replayability. Sure, you can buy a new module, but what to do with a scenario once you've already played through it? You host an event, that's what; at least that's what I'm doing. So if you've balked at a $65 price tag for a "one-time" use game, come experience the adventure without the major investment! I'm choosing to host The Marcy Case, the second module in the series. The base game includes Asylum, so if you enjoy this enough to buy it, you still have a full fresh experience with the base set (and can choose whether or not to purchase the Marcy module). "We have now mastered time travel, but faults and paradoxes threaten the very fabric of the universe. The T.I.M.E. Agency has been created to prevent their appearance and protect humanity. As temporal agents, you and your team will be sent into different worlds or realities, into the bodies of other beings (or “receptacles”). You will control these receptacles to fulfill the missions given to you. Communicate and collaborate to triumph over the perils standing in your path. Carefully observe the scenes shown on the board before acting. Complete your mission as quickly as possible. Know that you can attempt the mission as many times as necessary." ~ Bob Some mature themes and content. No spoilers from me! General Audience (13+) Conference C Table 6. $4.00

In Lords of Waterdeep, a strategy board game for 2-5 players, you take on the role of one of the masked Lords of Waterdeep, secret rulers of the city. Through your agents, you recruit adventurers to go on quests on your behalf, earning rewards and increasing your influence over the city. Expand the city by purchasing new buildings that open up new actions on the board, and hinder – or help – the other lords by playing Intrigue cards to enact your carefully laid plans. During the course of play, you may gain points or resources through completing quests, constructing buildings, playing intrigue cards or having other players utilize the buildings you have constructed. 6218 Glory to Rome, GM: Mark Brehob, 10 players, No XP/Average, Friday 8p-10p. Glory to Rome is a card-based city building and resource management game with a novel mechanism. Each card may act as a building, a client, a raw material, or a valuable resource, frequently forcing players into difficult decisions regarding how each card should be used. In addition, much of the game is played from the discard pool, giving players some control over what cards are accessible to opponents. Actions are triggered by a form of card-driven role selection -- the active player leads a role, and other players may follow if they discard a matching card from hand (to the pool). Players who don't follow may 'think' to draw more cards. There are thus strong interactions between the different uses of cards. Scoring is a combination of completing buildings and storing resources, with end-of-game bonuses for storing a diverse assortment. Game length is player-controlled, and is triggered in a few different ways. The lighthearted artwork of the original editions was replaced by minimalist art in the 'black box' edition, and both have been the source of great controversy. Many of the non-English editions use more conventional artwork. We should have both sets of art available for play. General Audience (13+) Ballroom Table 305-306. $2.00

6108 Paragraph System: Merlinspawn, GM: David Vandenabeele, 5 players, No XP/Average, Friday 9a-2p. Merlinspawn is set in Victorian England in 1876. Three or four generations ago, Merlin of Camelot returned to London, and magic came with him. Hand in hand with that, revolutions in industry and science began. In the century since this flowering, the world now sees alchemists and diviners working for Scotland Yard. Magical courses being taught at prominent universities, and feats of invention that seem almost magical themselves are becoming visible, if not commonplace. To keep the realm safe, Queen Victoria and her representatives have gathered together people of diverse talents. You are one of these heroes. Perhaps you are a gentle adventurer, possessing mundane skills honed to incredible levels. The gift of magic may be yours to command. You may be a being of legend, gifted (or cursed) with abilities that make you more (and perhaps less) than human. Invention and science may be your gift - or your curse, if what you create works only in your hands. So far, I have among our PC cast a golem, a shapeshifter, several immortals of various stripes, two or three half or full-blooded Fey, more than a few "mundane" adventurers, a handful of magicians with various specialties, a pair of mediums - each with their own relationship with the spirits of the dead, and a few scientists - an animator, a master of etheric engines, and a four-armed cyborg who cheats at cards. 6460 Dungeon Crawl Classics: Cave of Glurg, GM: Kevin Wojciechowski, 10 players, No XP/Average, Friday 9a-1p. This DCC funnel adventure will pit you and your even more pitiful commoners against cunning runt like vermin found in the first cavern opening along oft cursed Valley of Uro. The Uro Valley was once home to a mix of happy folk, but long ago creatures lead by the Glade Mystic invaded and lay havoc and ruin unto it. Survivors fled and resettled elsewhere, but as time went on they edged closer to the valley, forgetting or ignoring those old codgers who spoke of the curse. Something has awakened the curse, for recently the closest villages have been burned and gutted, their survivors swelling your village and a few others nearby. A sizable group of warriors sent by the Lord of the Vale were seen heading in the direction of the monstrous host just 10 days earlier. 6474 Fiasco: Tekumel: A Vindication of Instability - Cancelled, GM: George Hammond, 0 players, No XP/Simple, Friday 9a-1p. Fiasco is inspired by cinematic tales of small time capers gone disastrously wrong – inspired by films like Blood Simple, Fargo, The Way of the Gun, Burn After Reading, and A Simple Plan. You’ll play ordinary people with powerful ambition and poor impulse control, big dreams but flawed means. It won’t go well for them, to put it mildly, and will probably end in a glorious heap of jealousy, murder, impalement and recrimination. Lives and reputations will be lost, painful wisdom will be gained, and if you are really very lucky, your character just might end up back where he started. This is a GM-less game. We will use a playset custom-made for Tékumel . Players are not expected to have any experience with the Fiasco rules, but should have some familiarity with the Tékumel setting. 7071 In Extremis - ZOMBIES! apocalyptic storytelling: If not for the End of the World, GM: Simone Cooper, 5 players, No XP/Simple, Friday 3p-7p. You have a moment to breathe, a moment to plan. There are resources here, though they'll run out soon. If only you had a doctor, you think. If only you'd made it to the base. If only. If only. Do you become paranoid, or form the tightest bonds of friendship you could ever know? Do people surprise you with their goodness or their evil? Do you protect the weak and innocent, or do you weed them out? Let's find out as the next wave of zombies hits the fences. Eric Todd's _In Extremis_ is a diceless storytelling system in which players develop a shared pool of tragic, heroic, venal, helpless characters (think the survivors in The Walking Dead or Pitch Black) and play out the scenes of their story leading to the epic "season finale" episode. We could use any disaster or scenario that pits survivors against terrible odds, but for familiarity, we'll use a Zombie plague. Adults Only (18+) Seminar 2. $4.00

6109 Paragraph System: Merlinspawn, GM: David Vandenabeele, 5 players, No XP/Average, Friday 7p-12a. It is 3967 BBY, and the schematics for a crucial piece of top-secret Republic technology have been stolen, along with the prototype. The scant evidence points to an inside job. To make matters worse, it is believed that the scientist primarily responsible for developing the technology, who is away on a family vacation, is now a target. The Republic wants the scientist recovered and protected at all costs. The schematics and prototype cannot fall into the wrong hands. Will you be able to extract the scientist, recover the technology, and discover who's responsible? Of course, it could be a trap... General Audience (13+) Conference E Table 6. $4.00

6248 Heroquest: Glorantha: Last Night in Roadend, GM: Robert Ahrens, 4 players, No XP/Simple, Friday 7p-11p. Everyone knows that tomorrow Roadend fort will fall to the besieging Lunar army. Tonight, everyone inside the fort is desperately scrambling to finish their personal agenda … including you. Thirty years ago, King Tarkalor Troll-Killer defeated the Kitori tribe, who had become corrupted by dark Troll magics. He extended the King’s Road south from Wilmskirk to Whitewall and he built Roadend fort where the old road had ended to defend travellers from the surviving Kitori rebels in the hills. Today, the land is under a new threat - the Chaos-worshipping Lunar Empire invades from the north and its bronze-clad legions are everywhere. Now Roadend is one of the last bastions against Lunarism and under siege from a combined force of Lunar peltasts and a mercenary force led by Duke Sanuel of Volsaxiland. After a long siege the defences are stretched thin and supplies of food and water are dangerously low. You are one of those inside Roadend. But why are you there? What is your purpose? And what will you do on this last day, now that the writing is on the wall? Heroquest is a story-oriented roleplaying game that allows any contest to play out with the same detail and intensity as a combat. This game will use the kickers-and-bangs style of play to put the player characters, and the stories you create for them, at the center of the action. No prior knowledge of Heroquest, or Glorantha or roleplaying is necessary to participate but those who like reading up on things may find the following links helpful: The Dragon Pass setting of Glorantha: http://www.glorantha.com/docs/dragon-pass/ Review of Heroquest Glorantha RPG: https://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/16/16547.phtml General Audience (13+) Conference E Table 5. $4.00

Halflings are dirty pecks. Some say there are such things as Elves, and the Stoutfellas are best avoided where you come from. You have only ever seen the most basic of hedge magic, if that. You are not even sure it wasn't just a trick. Your city, the city of Cube, was in the path of a humanoid hoard crashing into what you are told was once an Empire. Some called the hoard the Army of the Black Eagle, some just called it the Doom. Reluctantly, you were conscripted into the Army of Cube and given some fundamental training. Prior to that you had never been outside of the Low End much less outside the city of Cube. Being able to see stars in the sky and waking up to something other than coughing fits is still somewhat amazing to you. Along with neighborhood friends in your unit, you are now in a bad spot; overrun and behind enemy lines. It's not looking good. General Audience (13+) Conference H Table 1. $4.00
