U-Con 2019 Pre-registration preview

Welcome to U-Con Preregistration preview! As the Con draws near, we want to give you a glimpse of what preregistration is going to look like:

Who is this for? Primarily, we do this to give GMs a chance to review what we’ve done with their submissions over the past months since they’ve submitted them. But you may also be interested if you feel there’s a gap in our programming that you’d like to fill and you just wanted to make sure nobody else was running your favorite game before you submitted it. Or maybe you like to be very organized with your Con experience and plan it down to the last minute. If so, this gives you a week to get started putting your ideal weekend together to make sure you don’t miss anything.

What’s happening? All of this year’s submitted games will be listed with their times and descriptions to build the initial framework of the Con schedule for this year. Locations are still being determined, so please don’t be alarmed if your game looks to be without a home yet, this is totally normal and nobody else’s is set either.

What should you do? If you submitted a game, log in and check to make sure the time is right and double check your calendar to see that you are still available for that slot. Once you confirm that we’re great and everything looks awesome, we’ll get you set up with your GM badge. If we’re still great but something looks off, you can let us know what’s wrong and what you think it should look like and we’ll fix it and we’ll still get you set up with your GM badge. Start telling your friends to sign up to come play your game [optional]. Start talking with your friends about what games they want to play and see if you want to play any of those games too [optional, but encouraged].

How should you contact us with questions? Email via https://www.ucon-gaming.org/about-u-con/contact-us/ please. This will help make sure we respond as quickly as possible. Some less efficient ways of contacting us include Facebook Messenger message that just says “this isn’t right but I’m not including any information on what I think it should be” or sending us a post card. The least efficient ways are asking your favorite U-Con member when you see them in the grocery store, randomly posting on a U-Con member’s facebook page, or sending a Zoidberg “your Con is bad and you should feel bad” meme to our PO Box and not including a return address.

What happens next? Pre-registration will open next week, giving everyone a chance to log in and start signing up for the events they want to play. Then, September, October, and much of November will pass. Then people will get a chance to register for your game on-site. Then somebody may walk up to your table and ask if there are any seats open. Then folks will play your game!

What if I still want to submit an event? No worries! You can still submit events until October 5, they just won’t be included in this round of registration.

What if I want to be more involved but not in a GMing kind of way? Lucky for you, our volunteer coordinator is looking for a few hands to round out our team. Let us know you are interested by sending a message here: https://www.ucon-gaming.org/about-u-con/contact-volunteer-coordinator/

Please let us know any questions you have (the earlier the better) or any information you think we missed.

Preregistration opens Monday, September 16 at 11am EDT!

Looking forward to seeing you after much of November has passed but probably before then!
