Charity Game Auction

U-Con meeples say hello!

Hello everyone. U-Con invites everyone to this year’s auction! There have been a lot of questions recently, so we thought we should explain how to enter items into the auction.

Before we start, we want to thank everyone who participated last year. All proceeds from the auction go to charity, and we raised more money last year than the previous three auctions combined! From everyone at U-Con thank you so much. Let’s see if we can do it again this year!

Sellers, before the auction begins, please fill out Item Slips for each item you plan to sell, as well as a Seller Item List.  Each Item Slip will have a brief description, any comments about the item including notes about damage or if the item is out of print or rare, and if anything is missing.  Each Item Slip will also include the seller’s name and number, the item number listed on the Item Sheet, and the starting bid or reserve. On the Item List, sellers will write their name, seller number, donation %, and the information from each Item Slip.  The Seller Number is used to keep track of which item belong to which seller, and will be provided before the Auction begins. The Donation % is to indicate if you would like to donate more than the standard rate of $1/item or 10% of the final value, whichever is higher.

We ask that sellers who plan on selling a large number of items please sell them in bundles whenever possible. This will help keep the auction moving and allow buyers to see all of the items available.

image8Everyone is welcome to attend, whether it’s to sell, buy, or just watch!  We will begin the auction at 3pm, so please arrive early with items you intend to sell. Sellers do not have to be present during the auction.  Buyers, please pick up an auction paddle.

Immediately after the auction is completed, each buyer must return their paddle, pay for their purchases (cash only please), and collect their items. Once all the buyers have paid, each seller will be called to collect their bounty. Sellers, please be present at this time! In the rare case a seller is missing, their bounty will be held for them at the Registration Desk. If it is not picked up before 5pm Sunday evening, all of the bounty will be donated to charity.

I hope that this answers everyone’s questions, and inspires you to participate in the auction. Items will be accepted starting 1pm on Saturday, although earlier is a possibility. We have had things like Nazi Cultist tokens for RPGs, signed items by previous Guests of Honor, and copies of rare roleplaying books and games. You never know what you’ll find at the U-Con Auction!
