Updated Attendee Guide
We refreshed many sections of our website this year. Our old First Time Attendees guide predated our use of Tabletop Events and referred to a lot of outdated information. So, we gave it a “glow up.” For information on what to expect at U-Con, check out the full Attendee Guide. This guide is excellent for first-time attendees and also provides useful reminders for returning attendees!
We want to highlight a few sections that we hope are helpful as you before and during your stay at the convention.
Assistance
Ask our staff for assistance when needed. We have staff available at the registration desk during registration hours. Our staff are identified by their U-Con badges marked “Staff.” We strive to make U-Con welcoming and accessible to everyone.
Health & Comfort
U-Con is meant to be fun, not exhausting. A little self-care goes a long way toward keeping your energy up and your weekend enjoyable.
- Use the 5-2-1 rule each day: 5 hours of sleep (at least!), 2 meals, and 1 shower.
- Stay hydrated: Bring and refill a water bottle throughout the day. You can refill your water bottle at our free water stations located throughout the venue.
- Wash your hands or use sanitizer regularly to reduce the spread of “con crud.”
- Take breaks or schedule downtime as needed. Step outside for fresh air or relax in a quiet spot. We have a dedicated quiet space in the Seminar 3 room on the 2nd floor.
Illness
We want everyone to have a great time at U-Con, but going home with “con crud” seriously detracts from that. Be mindful of germs.
- If you feel sick before the convention, take advantage of our Cancellation Policy.
- If you become sick during the convention, wear a mask or isolate yourself. If you decide to skip events, use the my schedule page on Tabletop Events to return event tickets you won’t use to free up tickets for others and so the GM doesn’t wait for you.
Keep your belongings with you or store them securely. If you lose something, check with the information desk; found items are collected there. Report any concerns to our convention staff, identified by their staff badges. In a true emergency, dial 911.
Conduct Policy: Respect and Inclusion
U-Con is built on respect and inclusion. Every attendee deserves to have a safe, enjoyable experience. Please take a moment to review the convention’s Code of Conduct, which outlines expectations for behavior and how to report issues. In short:
- Be courteous and considerate in all interactions.
- Respect other people’s boundaries and belongings.
- Treat players, GMs, volunteers, and vendors with kindness.
- If you witness behavior that violates our Code of Conduct or if you feel uncomfortable or uncertain about a situation, please speak to a staff member for support.
The staff and volunteers are here to help and take all concerns seriously. Together, we can ensure U-Con remains a space where everyone feels welcome.
