Welcome Guest of Honor Looney Labs

Welcome Guest of Honor Looney Labs
Andy and Kristen, with Kristen holding up a game called Seven Islands.

Looney Labs was founded 30 years ago by two former NASA engineers named Looney. The husband and wife team have been creating fun ever since, with Andy designing the games and Kristin running the company.  These fearless leaders of Looney Labs would love to meet you, so make sure to say hi when you see them at U-Con.

Andy’s many creations share the common goal of creating entertaining experiences for all. His first published card game of Fluxx has now sold over 4.5 million copies with numerous editions that offer different themes as well as some unique combinations of game mechanisms. His other hit games include the best-selling Loonacy, Chrononauts, Just Desserts, Get the MacGuffin, Aquarius, Seven Islands, and Pyramid Arcade. As a hippie, a trekkie, and a caveman, Andy loves traveling the country in his customized box truck and often attends Burning Man. He says his best games come fully formed to his mind, usually after a good night of sleep!

Kristin has always been a nerd: Fermilab student at 14, 5th fastest Rubik’s cube solver in the country at 16, NASA computer engineer at 20, and manager at a startup satellite company at 23. Starting a game company with Andy in her mid-twenties was the perfect way for Kristin to put her problem-solving skills and dedication to building community to work. As a teller of amazing stories who is always available to help others, Kristin makes friends wherever she goes, whether playing games, attending conventions, speaking on panels, or negotiating contracts for all parts of their board game publishing business.
